F.A.Q.

grapes Quality, Ingredients and Production

Do D’Alessandro’s jams and marmalades contain any preservatives or colourings?

No. All our jams, marmalades and fruit specialities are produced without the addition of preservatives, colourings or artificial flavourings. We use only selected fruit, sugar (or grape/apple juice in our ‘no added sugar’ ranges) and lemon juice as a natural acidity regulator.

What percentage of fruit is used in your ‘extra’ jams?

For our ‘extra’ jams, we use a very high percentage of fruit, depending on the type of fruit. The exact percentage is always clearly stated in the ingredients list on each individual product page and on the jar label.

Do you use commercial pectin to thicken your products?

Most of our recipes rely solely on the natural pectin found in the fruit itself, achieved through a slow, low-temperature cooking process. Where the texture of the fruit requires a little help (as with certain citrus fruits or very watery fruits), we use only pectin naturally extracted from apples or citrus fruits.

Are your products suitable for people following a vegan or gluten-free diet?

Yes. All our jams and preserves are naturally gluten-free and contain no ingredients of animal origin, making them ideal for vegetarian and vegan diets. Any allergens that may be present on our premises are processed on separate production lines to prevent cross-contamination.

truck Shipping, Deliveries and Glass Handling

How are the glass jars packed to prevent them from breaking during transport?

We use certified, high-strength protective packaging designed specifically for the transport of glass products. Each jar is individually secured within reinforced cardboard crates or wrapped in state-of-the-art cushioning materials to eliminate the risk of damage caused by couriers.

What should I do if a jar arrives damaged or broken?

In the unlikely event that one or more products are damaged during transit, our customer service team will resolve the issue immediately. Simply take a photo of the damaged jars whilst they are still in their packaging and send it to i[email protected] within 48 hours of delivery: we will either send you a replacement product at our expense or issue an immediate refund.

What are the delivery times and costs for deliveries to Italy?

  1. Delivery times: 24–48 working hours in most parts of Italy (72 hours for islands and remote areas) from the time the parcel is handed over to the courier.
  2. Delivery charges: The standard rate is €9.99 for private customers and €17 for businesses.
  3. Free delivery: delivery is completely free for all orders over €50 for private customers and €250 for businesses. A charge of €10 applies for remote areas.

infoStorage and Use-by Dates

How should jams be stored before and after opening?

  1. Unopened: Store the jar in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight or sources of heat (the kitchen cupboard at home is ideal).
  2. After opening: The jar must be kept in the fridge (at a temperature between +2°C and +4°C) and should preferably be consumed within 3–4 weeks. We recommend always using a clean spoon to scoop out the product, to avoid external contamination.

Qual è il tempo di conservazione (shelf-life) dei prodotti sigillati?

Our products have a very high biological stability thanks to their natural concentration of fruit sugars. The use-by date
(Best before…) is printed on the cap or on the back of the label and guarantees that the product will retain its optimal organoleptic properties for 36 months from the date of production.
