Jams from Abruzzo:
a story of family and the local area

From the inspiration of the Abruzzo hills to Italian dining tables: an evolution guided by tradition and quality.

D’Alessandro jams have their roots in the extraordinary natural beauty of the Abruzzo hills, a region that has always inspired our production philosophy.
This synergy has given rise to a range of premium jams and preserves, prepared by combining a careful selection of raw ingredients with traditional artisanal methods handed down through the generations. Our preserves capture the aromatic essence of fruit picked at the perfect stage of ripeness, carefully balanced to offer a natural and well-structured flavour profile, ideal both for everyday enjoyment and for the demands of fine patisserie.

Tradition, authenticity and quality continue to guide every stage of production to this day, resulting in jams from Abruzzo that truly reflect the region and the artisanal heritage from which they originate.

1988

The origins: artisanal ingenuity and the first three cult classics

The history of D’Alessandro Confetture began in 1988, when Orazio D’Alessandro, together with his wife, founded a small artisan workshop nestled in the hills of Abruzzo. It was here that D’Alessandro jam was first produced, made according to traditional recipes and with a focus on the authenticity of the raw ingredients. Initially, only three products were made: Scrucchijata, quince jam and fig jam – authentic flavours that still today represent the company’s strong connection to the traditions of the Abruzzo region.

1993

Business growth and the expansion of the product range

As artisan production grew, D’Alessandro Confetture expanded its workshop and introduced new products. Over the years, the range of D’Alessandro jams and preserves – intended for both everyday consumption and the professional sector – has grown. Innovative products such as Cioccofruit, an original blend of fruit, cocoa and chocolate, were launched, alongside the first jams with no added sugar. The company thus embarked on a path of growth that combines tradition, research and innovative production methods.

2000

The generational transition: a new managerial approach

The early 2000s marked an important generational handover. Orazio’s children – Cinzia, Sandra and Maurizio – took over the reins of the family business and helped transform D’Alessandro Confetture into an increasingly structured and organised enterprise. Thanks to their efforts, D’Alessandro jams began to spread throughout Italy, winning over the market of patisseries, artisan workshops and professionals in the confectionery sector.

2006

Corporate structure: D’Alessandro Confetture S.r.l. is established

In 2006, the company’s growth led to the official establishment of D’Alessandro Confetture S.r.l. After almost twenty years in business, the company continues to grow both in terms of turnover and nationwide distribution. D’Alessandro’s Abruzzo jams are becoming increasingly widespread in Italian shops, patisseries and the B2B sector, thanks to products renowned for their quality, reliability and authentic flavour.

2015

Award-winning innovation: the revolution in dispensers for the hospitality sector.

Innovation continues with the launch of the D’Alessandro Confetture dispensers, a solution designed for hotels, cafés and patisseries. Thanks to this new range, the company has been awarded the Confindustria Innovation Award. The dispensers enhance the breakfast experience by allowing customers to choose and portion out the product themselves, whilst also helping to reduce food waste.

2016

Beyond desserts: the launch of gourmet compotes and the value of charity

In 2016, the product range expanded further with the introduction of gourmet compotes – fruit and vegetable-based preparations ideal for serving with cold cuts, cheeses and creative recipes. That same year, at Cibus, the compote gift set – containing handcrafted kitchen utensils produced in collaboration with Laboratorio Incontro – received the ‘Dolci & Salati Award’ for best charity initiative.

2021

Logistics and Infrastructure: the expansion of the production hub

More than thirty years after it was founded, the company is continuing its growth by expanding its production facility. The premises have been doubled in size to meet the growing demand for D’Alessandro Confetture’s jams, marmalades and speciality products.

2022

Visual rebranding: the absolute centrality of the raw material

Following a major rebranding exercise, D’Alessandro Confetture has chosen to place even greater emphasis on fruit, the key ingredient in all its products. A new way of showcasing D’Alessandro’s jams through authenticity, colour and the quality of the raw ingredients.

2024

Contemporary heritage: the new logo looks to the future.

In 2024, the company also revamped its long-standing logo. The gnome, a symbol of the naturalness and authenticity of D’Alessandro Confetture’s products, took on a more modern look whilst retaining the values that have underpinned the company since its inception: tradition, craftsmanship and a passion for quality.

A family story that began in 1988

The history of D’Alessandro Confetture began in 1988 with an idea from the founder, Orazio D’Alessandro. Over the years, his approach to production — based on simplicity, authenticity and uncompromising quality — has been carried on by his children, who now lead the company’s growth whilst fully respecting the traditional craft culture.

At present, the company’s organisational structure comprises:

  • Cinzia D’Alessandro is in charge of corporate management, internal governance and the development of commercial relationships.
  • Sandra D’Alessandro is responsible for overseeing quality standards and safety protocols.
  • Maurizio D’Alessandro oversees the entire production line to ensure the organoleptic integrity of the product, from the selection of raw materials right through to packaging.

Three different production processes, each specialising in a specific area, which ensure that D’Alessandro jams reach your table whilst retaining all the genuine flavour of tradition and the authenticity of a production method rooted in the flavours and aromas of the Abruzzo region.

Jams from Abruzzo:
our region in a jar.

What sets D’Alessandro Confetture’s products apart is their strong connection to the Abruzzo region, which is not only the source of the raw ingredients but also the starting point for the relationships built up over the years with suppliers and partners. An authentic connection that comes to life in every jar.

Over the years, we have grown, innovated and streamlined our production processes to ensure our products reach every corner of the world. What we have never lost, however, is direct control over every detail, the artisanal care that goes into every stage of production, and our commitment to the authentic flavours that have always set us apart.

For us, growing the ‘Confetture d’Abruzzo’ brand in a sustainable way does not simply mean expanding our business, but continuing to remain true to our identity, our region and the values that guide our work every day, whilst constantly improving without compromising on authenticity and quality.
